Conserve Global is seeking a skilled Communications Manager to lead our communications during an important growth phase.

    Job Title: Part-Time Communications Manager
    Organisation: Conserve Global
    Job Location: Flexible within Africa
    Start Date: 1 May 2026
Closing Date: Monday, 16 March 2026
Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term contract (potential for renewal)
Working Pattern: Part-time (2.5 days per week)
Salary: Competitive, market-related, and commensurate with experience

This is a strategic yet hands-on role, combining brand stewardship, ethical conservation storytelling, donor reporting, and digital content management.

    About Conserve Global

Conserve Global is a growing conservation organisation committed to advancing community-led conservation initiatives across Africa.

Our work is rooted in ethical practice, long-term partnerships, and evidence-based approaches that place local communities at the centre of conservation success.

As we enter a critical growth phase, we are strengthening our systems, partnerships, and visibility. To support this next chapter, we are seeking a skilled and strategic Part-Time Communications Manager to lead and professionalise our communications function.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the narrative of a dynamic conservation organisation and ensure that authentic, responsible storytelling remains at the heart of our brand and external engagement.

    Role Purpose

The Communications Manager will steward Conserve Global’s brand, narrative, and tone while building a scalable and effective communications system across our portfolio.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring communications are not only aligned with organisational goals but also executed with excellence and consistency.

The successful candidate will oversee content production, donor reporting support, digital communications, media engagement, and stakeholder coordination.

We are looking for someone who can think strategically while rolling up their sleeves to produce high-quality outputs when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership & Brand Stewardship

    • Lead and implement Conserve Global’s communications strategy across all platforms.
    • Maintain brand tone, visual identity, and narrative consistency across external outputs.
    • Provide internal brand guidance and build organisational awareness around messaging and positioning.
    • Strengthen and formalise communications systems to support organisational growth.

This role will ensure that every external touchpoint — from social media posts to donor reports — reflects a cohesive, ethical, and compelling brand identity.

    Content Development & Ethical Storytelling

    • Produce compelling, evidence-based conservation stories grounded in field realities.
    • Translate technical conservation outputs into accessible, engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
    • Commission and manage multimedia content in line with ethical storytelling standards.
    • Oversee the execution of routine posting and content production by external consultants.

We are committed to storytelling that respects communities, avoids harmful narratives, and accurately reflects conservation complexity. The Communications Manager will play a central role in safeguarding these principles.

    Reporting & Donor Communications

    • Oversee Quarterly Progress Reports and the Annual Impact Review.
    • Support donor communications and proposal development.
    • Ensure reporting aligns with strategic storytelling and organisational positioning.

The successful candidate will understand how to communicate impact clearly and credibly to institutional donors, philanthropic partners, and stakeholders, balancing narrative strength with evidence and accountability.

Digital Hub & Social Media Management

    • Manage Conserve Global’s LinkedIn and Instagram presence.
    • Maintain the website as a central communications hub.
    • Build integrated digital pathways across platforms to strengthen engagement.

You will ensure that our digital ecosystem is cohesive, consistent, and aligned with our broader communications strategy, while maintaining high editorial standards.

    Media & Thought Leadership

    • Identify selective visibility and thought leadership opportunities aligned with organisational priorities.
    • Manage media relationships and develop core materials including press releases and boilerplates.

This is not a high-volume media role; rather, it requires strategic discernment to position Conserve Global where it matters most.

    Coordination & External Relationships

    • Liaise closely with field teams to source stories and verify content accuracy.
    • Manage relationships with external creative partners and agencies.
    • Maintain organised workflows, asset libraries, and content calendars.

Strong operational discipline and attention to detail are essential to ensure communications run smoothly across time zones and teams.

    Candidate Profile

We are seeking a communications professional who brings both strategic maturity and practical delivery capability.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
    • A postgraduate qualification in one of these fields is highly desirable.

    Experience

    • Minimum 3–5 years of managerial-level experience overseeing communications or content production (5+ years preferred).
    • Experience within the non-profit or NGO sector is highly beneficial.
    • Strong conservation literacy or professional experience in the environmental sector.

    • Demonstrated experience managing brand and communications systems.
    • Experience supporting donor communications and institutional audiences (desirable).
    • Experience managing external creative partners (desirable).

    Skills & Competencies

    • Excellent editorial judgement and storytelling ability.
    • Ability to translate complex technical material into clear, compelling narratives.
    • Capacity to balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery.

    • High attention to detail and strong organisational discipline.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote, flexible environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

    What We Offer

    • A meaningful opportunity to shape the communications function of a growing conservation organisation.
    • Flexible location within Africa.
    • Part-time structure (2.5 days per week), supporting work-life balance.

    • Competitive, market-related salary aligned with experience.
    • A collaborative and mission-driven working environment.

This role is ideal for a communications professional who is passionate about conservation, values ethical storytelling, and is motivated by building systems that enable long-term impact.
