The Global Methane Hub (GMH) is seeking a Grants & Compliance Associate to support its global grant-making operations. This is a full-time, permanent, globally remote position with a preference for candidates located within ±4 GMT. The role reports to the Senior Grants Manager and is positioned at junior level.
- Salary: USD $46,000–$58,000 (benchmarked by location; geographic differential applies)

GMH represents the first coordinated philanthropic initiative dedicated exclusively to methane mitigation. Its mission focuses on reducing methane emissions across the energy, agriculture, and waste sectors, which together account for approximately 96% of human-caused methane emissions.
The organisation pursues catalytic investments designed to secure immediate emissions reductions while laying the foundation for long-term systems transformation. Operating globally, GMH recognises that effective methane mitigation requires engagement at sub-national and local levels, particularly in high-emitting regions. The organisation’s team spans six continents, with headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
GMH advances its work through three core functions:
- Regranting: Providing financial support to public-benefit organisations working directly to mitigate methane emissions.
- Convening: Aligning governments, civil society, researchers, and funders to accelerate coordinated climate action.
- Advising: Serving as a trusted knowledge hub, offering guidance on methane mitigation strategies, data transparency, and field-building.
Purpose of the Role
The Grants & Compliance Associate plays a critical operational role across the full lifecycle of GMH’s grant-making activities. The position supports due diligence, compliance management, grant administration, and monitoring processes to ensure grants are processed efficiently and responsibly.

Working closely with programme and operations teams, the Associate ensures that grants are effectively vetted, documented, monitored, and closed out in alignment with internal policies and international best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
The Associate will conduct structured due diligence on prospective grantees, applying established frameworks to evaluate organisational integrity and risk. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing financial statements, audits, governance documentation, and legal registrations
- Assessing sub-grantee oversight systems
- Conducting sanctions screening and anti-money laundering checks
- Coordinating equivalency determinations and charitability assessments for international grants
- Evaluating financial, legal, operational, and compliance risks using internal assessment tools
- Compiling findings into formal due diligence reports
- Maintaining and updating risk-based due diligence templates and procedures
- Managing concurrent due diligence reviews to meet deadlines
- Entering and tracking grant applications in Fluxx
- Communicating status updates throughout the review process
Grant Administration & Compliance
The Associate will ensure accurate processing and monitoring of grants from approval through closeout. Key duties include:
- Executing grant agreements and coordinating payment requests
- Maintaining organised, audit-ready grant files
- Tracking grant expenditures and identifying budget variances
- Ensuring GDPR-compliant data collection and storage
- Managing reporting schedules and following up with programme teams
- Reviewing submitted reports for completeness and compliance
- Monitoring intermediary reports regarding sub-grantee performance
- Escalating compliance concerns to the Senior Grants Manager
- Identifying documentation requiring legal counsel review
Grants Management Systems
The Associate will maintain the integrity of GMH’s grants management system (Fluxx) across all grant phases. Responsibilities include:
- Entering and updating grant data, due diligence findings, and compliance documentation
- Generating reports and compliance metrics for leadership and programme teams
- Providing technical support to staff and grantees on system functionality
- Maintaining process documentation and user guides
- Supporting system optimisation and process improvement initiatives
Support & Collaboration
Collaboration is central to the role. The Associate will:
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding compliance and grant processes
- Build effective working relationships with programme teams
- Proactively communicate reporting deadlines
- Recommend improvements to due diligence and administrative workflows
- Prepare and manage agendas for internal grants meetings
- Undertake additional duties as required
Candidate Profile

Required qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Minimum three years’ professional experience in grant management, compliance, or due diligence
- Experience in philanthropy, international development, or the non-profit sector preferred
- Proficiency with Fluxx or comparable grants management systems
- Experience conducting due diligence across multiple regions, particularly Latin America, Asia, or Africa
- Strong financial analysis and organisational risk assessment skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines concurrently
- Knowledge of international grant-making regulations and compliance standards
- Culturally sensitive and diplomatic approach to international partnerships
- Demonstrated passion for contributing to climate change solutions

This role is fully remote and requires flexibility to collaborate across time zones, particularly with the supervisor located in GMT +0/+1.
