This individual will play a pivotal role in transforming ACLED’s conflict data into compelling, accessible visual content tailored specifically for corporate audiences. Reporting directly to the Senior Editorial Officer, the successful candidate will operate at the intersection of design, content strategy, and audience engagement.

The Role
Their core responsibility will be to craft multimedia assets that clearly communicate the business value of conflict data—demonstrating how ACLED’s intelligence can be leveraged for risk management, strategic planning, and decision-making in corporate sectors such as mining, finance, insurance, and strategic risk sectors.
This position involves working closely with the Marketing Communications & Content Manager to bring data to life through visually engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences. The role is fully remote, emphasizing the importance of self-motivation, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Marketing Content Creation & Design
- Develop marketing materials that emphasize ACLED’s products as essential tools for business decision-makers.
- Design engaging social media carousels, infographics, and visual assets that translate complex conflict data into clear, actionable insights.
- Produce multimedia content such as video tutorials, slide decks, one-pagers, and client briefing templates tailored to corporate audiences.
- Craft visual narratives that effectively communicate the return on investment, risk mitigation benefits, and competitive advantages of ACLED’s data.
- Design newsletter templates targeted at different stakeholder segments, including executives, analysts, and policymakers, ensuring alignment with overall content strategy.
- Build reusable design systems and templates to maintain brand consistency and facilitate rapid content production.
Digital & Web Design
- Design landing pages and dedicated web sections to showcase ACLED’s tools and datasets to specific sectors like mining, insurance, or strategic risk.
- Collaborate with web development teams to create visually compelling, conversion-optimized user experiences.
- Audit and refine website visuals to improve clarity, eliminate friction points, and enhance user engagement.
- Ensure all visual content is optimized for accessibility, responsiveness across devices, and aligns with SEO best practices.
Marketing Operations & Asset Management
- Create and design email marketing templates that teams can utilize for campaigns.
- Assist in executing email marketing campaigns, tracking engagement, and optimizing content based on performance metrics.
- Maintain and organize visual asset libraries, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with sales and external teams to ensure messaging alignment across channels.
Skills and Experience

Essential Skills
- Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or equivalent.
- Proven ability to create executive presentations and B2B marketing collateral.
- Strong visual storytelling skills — understanding hierarchy, whitespace, color theory, and how design enhances content.
- A portfolio demonstrating work for corporate or professional audiences, showcasing multimedia assets, infographics, presentations, and web content.
Technical Competencies
- Experience designing email marketing templates, with responsive HTML/CSS knowledge considered a plus.
- Familiarity with web frameworks like WordPress, Webflow, or similar CMS platforms.
- Experience working with Asana, Salesforce, Mailchimp, or similar tools.
- Ability to optimize visual content for multiple platforms and channels, including social media and web.
- Knowledge of GEO and SEO best practices, along with accessibility standards for web and social media content.
Communication & Collaboration
- Native or fluent English skills, both written and spoken, for seamless collaboration on copy and design.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially when working with data, charts, and technical information.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, follow creative briefs, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and a self-directed work style suited for remote work across time zones.
Marketing & Audience Understanding
- Experience in B2B marketing communications or corporate content design.
- Ability to translate complex, technical information into clear, persuasive visual narratives.
- Understanding of how different audiences consume visual information—whether executives, analysts, policymakers, or risk managers.
Bonus Qualifications (Highly Valued)
- Experience designing for analytics-driven products or data visualization tools such as Flourish, Tableau, or Datawrapper.
- Background in international affairs, conflict analysis, risk intelligence, or related fields.
- Skills in video editing or motion graphics using Adobe Premiere or After Effects.
- Additional languages such as French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish.
- Experience working in high-pressure environments like newsrooms, crisis response teams, or startups.
