Overview
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking Medical Doctors for their Reserve Pool in Kebbi State, Nigeria. This role involves providing high-quality outpatient and inpatient care, adhering to MSF medical protocols, and supporting patient management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations, diagnose, and prescribe treatment according to MSF protocols.
- Inform patients and families about illnesses and treatments.
- Monitor hospitalized/IDP patients, including daily visits, consultations, and prescribing treatment; coordinate discharges and referrals.
- Supervise rational use of medicines, equipment, and sterilization procedures.
- Participate in epidemiological data collection and analysis, reporting issues or complications.
- Train paramedical staff to optimize care quality.
- Collaborate with nurses to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to medical ethics and maintain confidentiality.
- Perform triage and basic examinations for new admissions (ER/ICU).
- Identify and escalate serious cases to senior medical staff.
- Prescribe rehydration and routine treatments according to patient weight and MSF protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and provide instructions to nurses.
- Monitor patient progress, detect complications, and refer when necessary.
- Oversee feeding, vaccination, and discharge procedures.
Requirements
- Medical degree with valid license.
- Previous clinical experience preferred.
- Familiarity with MSF protocols advantageous.
- Strong diagnostic, patient management, and teamwork skills.
