    Overview

    The Gender & AI Innovation Collective (GAIC) is inviting applications for its 2026 cohort, offering women’s rights organizations across Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to develop AI solutions that directly serve their communities.

    Eligibility

    • Civil society organizations, interdisciplinary teams, or activist organizations operating in Sub-Saharan Africa
    • Women-led or primarily focused on women’s rights
    • Organizations with a feminist or human rights mission
    • Demonstrated commitment to community engagement and participatory design

    Applicants must have a reliable internet connection and dedicate approximately 4 hours per week.

    Benefits

    • Community Learning & Development: 8 weeks of learning modules culminating in a concept paper outlining a proposed AI solution.
    • Technical Support & Seed Funding:
      • CAD 7,500 for building new AI prototypes
      • CAD 3,000 for adapting existing solutions, with hands-on guidance from experts.
    • Real-World Testing and Scaling: Promising projects may receive a CAD 15,000 grant for piloting within their communities.
