Overview
The GitLab Foundation is seeking a Program Officer to drive innovative approaches to economic opportunity and workforce development. This remote, full-time role involves overseeing investments, fostering collaborations, and managing the grant lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement grantmaking strategies aligned with the Foundation’s goals.
- Serve as an internal expert on workforce systems and labor market dynamics.
- Conduct market and sector research to inform decision-making.
- Contribute insights to the Foundation’s knowledge base.
- Lead the full lifecycle of grants, including vetting, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with partners to co-develop innovative programs.
- Develop models to track workforce outcomes and earnings.
- Prepare proposals and presentations for leadership and the Board.
- Build and maintain relationships with peer funders, employers, and organizations.
- Facilitate collaborations to scale workforce solutions.
- Represent the Foundation at industry forums and events.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8+ years in foundation work, workforce development, or related roles.
- Deep fluency in AI, automation, digital transformation, and their impact on the labor market.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and foster collaborations.
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop actionable plans.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills.
- Experience managing the full grant lifecycle.
- Familiarity with impact measurement frameworks.
- Deep understanding of the workforce ecosystem and policy levers.
- Personal attributes include curiosity, flexibility, proactivity, strong communication, integrity, and humility.
Benefits
- Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000 USD annually.
- Total compensation estimated between $130,000 and $200,000 USD.
