Overview
The CIVICUS Digital Democracy Initiative is seeking a Senior Consultant on Digital Rights and Civic Space Advocacy for a 9-month remote consultancy. This role aims to strengthen regional advocacy for digital civic space and democratic participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive advocacy workplans and strategies for six regions.
- Support the design and implementation of advocacy actions targeting national governments.
- Assist in the design and delivery of advocacy actions for multilateral institutions and donor agencies.
- Collaborate with CIVICUS regional advocacy leads and UN advisors.
- Prepare regular progress updates and a comprehensive final report.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Information Technology, Digital Policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in digital rights, civic technology, or digital democracy advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high-impact advocacy strategies.
- Deep understanding of political, technological, and regulatory landscapes across diverse regions.
- Strong familiarity with UN mechanisms, human rights standards, and digital governance frameworks.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish, French, or Arabic is desirable.
Benefits
This is an international consultancy with a duration of 9 months. Travel costs will be covered by CIVICUS.
