About Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative

The Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI) is a pioneering multi-stakeholder initiative dedicated to fostering high-integrity voluntary carbon markets that support the global efforts towards achieving the Paris Agreement.

VCMI works with governments, civil society, businesses, and the private sector to ensure that voluntary carbon markets contribute meaningfully to climate mitigation and sustainable development goals.

The Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets, co-chaired by the Governments of Kenya, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, is a key initiative under this umbrella. It aims to create the conditions necessary for high-quality, scalable voluntary carbon markets through strategic policy guidance, incentives, and coordinated engagement with the private sector and financial institutions.

The coalition’s ultimate goal is to mobilize private capital at scale for climate action and sustainable development by instilling confidence in high-integrity carbon credits as credible complements to national climate policies.

The Coalition Secretariat is hosted by VCMI, which provides the operational backbone to support this ambitious effort.
