NRF Thuthuka Funding Call 2027 Now Open for Researchers in South Africa

Overview

The 2027 Thuthuka Funding Instrument, offered by the National Research Foundation (NRF) in South Africa, is now open for applications. This program supports the development of early-career researchers by strengthening research capacity and promoting academic excellence.

Eligibility

Applicants must be full-time employees (permanent or contract) at NRF-recognised public universities or research institutions, and be South African citizens or permanent residents. They should also be academic staff, staff with joint academic and administrative roles where research is a deliverable, or researchers at science councils or NRF-recognized institutions.
