Overview
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking a Field Security Assistant to support security operations in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. This is a 12-month non-staff opportunity with a possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to staff security emergencies and organize immediate assistance.
- Support compliance with United Nations security policies and procedures.
- Monitor and report on the daily security situation and provide briefings.
- Disseminate security advisories to staff in a timely manner.
- Conduct security assessments and coordinate with host government security authorities and UNDSS.
- Maintain and update security plans, staff movement records, and contingency arrangements.
- Provide security briefings and support security clearances for staff.
- Support convoy planning, field mission security arrangements, and enforce compliance with Security Risk Management and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prepare Security Risk Assessments and support the implementation of Security Risk Management measures, Area Security Plans, and contingency plans.
Requirements
- University degree in risk or emergency management, social or political science, military science, public administration, law enforcement, law, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years relevant experience in police, armed forces, private security, or security services of a large organization.
- Working knowledge of English (Level C).
- Must be a national of Nigeria.
