Overview
Removall is seeking an ESG and Impact Manager to shape its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. This role involves overseeing ESG policy implementation, risk management, due diligence, impact assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of Removall’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS)
- Align ESG frameworks with IFC Performance Standards and EDFI ESG harmonized standards
- Coordinate with internal departments to integrate ESG considerations at all stages of project development
- Provide expert guidance to the Project Development Team on risk assessments, due diligence, and monitoring
- Develop and deliver internal ESG and impact training programs
- Conduct ESG impact assessments focusing on human rights, land and customary rights, food security, and access to natural resources
- Apply a “do no harm” approach to exclude projects with negative ESG impacts
- Develop monitoring systems to track environmental and social impacts of projects
- Prepare ESG action plans and implement frameworks for post-investment monitoring
- Report ESG and impact metrics, including biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and community benefits
- Produce Removall’s annual ESG report and mission report under PACTE law
- Serve as the primary ESG contact for investors, partners, communities, and regulators
- Represent Removall in forums, conferences, and partnerships as a thought leader in sustainable finance
- Stay updated on emerging ESG trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously enhance Removall’s ESG framework
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Sustainability, or related field
- 7–10 years of experience in ESG management, due diligence, risk assessment, or Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
- Proven experience on large-scale international projects, ideally in carbon, energy, mining, infrastructure, agriculture, or sustainable finance
- Experience evaluating projects in emerging markets, particularly Africa
- Expertise in ESG reporting (e.g., GRI) and managing ESMS in alignment with IFC Performance Standards
- Strong command of ESG frameworks, biodiversity, land-use issues, community engagement, and carbon project risks
- Ability to independently drive ESG workstreams and make informed decisions
- Effective project support, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French; additional languages are a plus
- Capacity to design and deliver ESG and impact training programs
- High attention to detail and rigor in documentation, assessments, and reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
