    The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) was launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF in partnership with leading global institutions.

    It has grown into the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on sustainable landscapes, engaging over 25,000 organizations, 1.3 million youth, 100 governments, and millions of people across 185 countries.

    Launched in 2020, the GLFx network connects community-based organizations addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and inequality through restoration, conservation, ecopreneurship, advocacy, and knowledge exchange.

    Across Africa, GLFx includes more than 30 chapters in 17 countries, representing diverse ecosystems and cultural contexts. The network offers tailored opportunities in learning, funding, visibility, partnerships, and global engagement.

    Position Overview

    The GLFx Chapter Africa Hub Officer will serve as the regional focal point for GLFx in Africa. The role is central to building a vibrant, connected, and collaborative network of locally led organizations across the continent.

    Working closely with the GLFx Coordinator, the Community & Action team, the GLF Africa Hub Coordinator, and the Learning and Communications teams, the Officer will:

    • Strengthen community engagement among Africa chapters
    • Ensure meaningful integration of chapters into GLF programs and events
    • Coordinate regional activities and flagship initiatives
    • Facilitate equitable access to funding and partnership opportunities

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Regional Coordination & Community Engagement

    • Serve as the primary focal point for Africa-based GLFx chapters
    • Manage day-to-day communication and convene regular meetings
    • Facilitate engagement through digital platforms
    • Support knowledge sharing and visibility materials

    2. Program Development & Implementation

    • Design and deliver activities that strengthen engagement, collaboration, and learning
    • Ensure meaningful inclusion of African chapters in GLF events and initiatives
    • Support implementation of the GLFx strategy in the region
    • Facilitate contributions from Africa chapters to program development and Steering Committee processes

    3. Events & Flagship Programs

    • Lead coordination of GLFx Africa sessions within global and regional conferences (plenaries, workshops, dialogues, Action Corners)
    • Coordinate Community & Action flagship programs in Africa, including Assemblies and Field Exchange initiatives

    4. Communications & Visibility

    • Collaborate with the GLF Communications team to elevate stories, achievements, and insights from African chapters
    • Promote media visibility across GLF platforms

    5. Partnerships & Peer Learning

    • Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among African chapters
    • Engage with CIFOR-ICRAF scientists, GLF Charter Members, and partner organizations
    • Lead onboarding of new Africa chapters

    6. Grants & Resource Coordination

    • Design and coordinate transparent, equitable processes for allocating grants, travel support, equipment, and learning opportunities
    • Support review and selection processes in coordination with relevant committees

    • Provide technical guidance on agreements, fund transfers, compliance, and reporting
    • Assist chapters in impact data organization and reporting

    7. Regional Strategy Alignment

    • Collaborate with the GLF Africa Regional Hub Coordinator to advance the Africa regionalization agenda
    • Undertake additional responsibilities to strengthen the GLFx program and maximize impact

    Education, Knowledge & Experience

    Required Qualifications

    • University degree in sustainable development, landscape restoration, conservation, agroecology, community development, or related field
    • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken)

    • Experience working with field-based restoration initiatives, social movements, or community-driven processes
    • Strong project coordination and partnership management skills
    • Ability to produce high-quality written content for diverse audiences

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Experience leading, co-founding, or actively participating in a community-based organization
    • Experience collaborating with grassroots initiatives and international institutions
    • Background in restoration, advocacy, or collective action
