The Child Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN), managed by Defence for Children International Belgium (DEI Belgium), is seeking a proactive intern to support its activities dedicated to protecting children’s rights across Europe.
Job Title: Intern – Child Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN)
Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid: 1–2 days telework per week)
Contract Duration: 12 months (March 2026 – February 2027)
Salary: €1,150–€1,250/month

About the Child Friendly Justice European Network
The Child Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN) was launched in April 2019 by Defence for Children International Belgium (DEI Belgium), in partnership with other DCI chapters in Europe.
CFJ-EN brings together civil society and academic organisations with expertise in child-friendly justice. As of 1 January 2026, the network comprises 40 members across 21 European countries. Through its members, CFJ-EN coordinates action at European level to disseminate quality standards, promote innovative approaches, and harmonise practices for children in contact with the law.
Its overall objective is to accelerate the effective adaptation of justice systems to children’s needs and rights at local, national and regional levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management & Coordination: Support the management, reporting, and monitoring of network projects such as seminars, the Caravan of Justice, and summer schools. (40%)
- Monitoring and Support: Oversee the implementation of children and youth advisory councils, manage sub-granting programs, and assist in developing awareness tools. (25%)
- Membership & Communication: Maintain the network’s membership database and update contact information regularly. (10%)
- Logistical & Administrative Support: Organize and support the logistics for events, meetings, and conferences, including travel arrangements and expense monitoring. (20%)
- Additional Support: Provide flexible assistance based on network needs. (5%)
Compensation & benefits
- Remuneration: €1150 (first 6 months), then €1250 (following 6 months)
- Partial reimbursement of transport costs (STIB pass)
- Teleworking allowance
- Participation encouraged in events, webinars and training sessions
Terms and conditions
- Recruitment under a Contrat d’Insertion Professionnelle (CIP)
- Start date: ideally no later than March 2026
- Duration: 12 months
- Location: Brussels (DEI Belgium office)
- Telework possible 1–2 days per week from the second month

Who Should Apply?
- Graduates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Children’s Rights, Development Cooperation, or related fields
- Knowledge or training in fundamental rights and children’s rights
- Passionate about children’s rights and youth advocacy, especially in justice systems
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); French skills are a plus
- Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Teams, Canva)
- Dynamic, organized, curious, and proactive
