    Job Description

    The Board of the Marcus Wallenberg Foundation and its Selection Committee invite global nominations for the prestigious Marcus Wallenberg Prize between 1 February and 30 April 2026.

    The Prize recognizes, encourages, and stimulates path-breaking scientific achievements that significantly advance knowledge or technological development within the forest-based sector worldwide.

    About the Marcus Wallenberg Prize

    The Marcus Wallenberg Prize honors outstanding achievements in areas relevant to forestry and forest-based industries, including:

    • Forest ecosystem conservation and management
    • Sustainable forest resource utilization
    • Forest industry process innovation
    • Product and service development
    • Technological advances contributing to sustainable societal development

    The Foundation evaluates nominations according to its official statutes, emphasizing:

    • Excellence in scientific research
    • Technological innovation
    • Or a combination of both

    Preferably, the nominated achievement should have emerged within the past 10 years.

    Eligibility Criteria

    A “Candidate” may be:

    • An individual researcher
    • A group of normally 2–4 individuals who have collaborated on a breakthrough

    The nominated work must:

    • Represent a significant scientific and/or technological breakthrough
    • Demonstrate proven or potential impact on forestry and forest-products industries
    • Contribute meaningfully to sustainable development

    Important:
    Self-nominations are not permitted under the statutes of the Marcus Wallenberg Foundation.

    Nomination & Selection Process

    Nominations may be submitted:

    • Via the official online nomination form
    • By email
    • By mail (MS Word nomination form accepted)

    All nominations must be received by 30 April 2026.

    Evaluation Procedure

    1. Initial review based on a short nomination submission
    2. Short-listed nominators are requested to provide full documentation
    3. Comprehensive review by:
      • The Selection Committee
      • Peer scientists
      • Forest and industry managers
      • Related sector specialists
    4. Multi-year evaluation process (up to 3 years)
    5. Prize winners announced early each calendar year

    The nomination and evaluation process remains confidential until the official announcement.

    • Full name(s)
    • Contact details
    • Academic qualifications
    • Employing institution and address
    • Date of birth
    • Nationality

    Research Breakthrough Details

    • Title of the single breakthrough
    • Short description (maximum 200 words)
    • Expected impact and current/future applications in science or industry
    • Related patents
    • Relevant publications (including publication year)

    Supporting Information

    • CV of the candidate(s)
    • Key collaborators related to the scientific advances
    • Competing groups or leading researchers in the field
    • Name, address, and email of the nominator(s)
