Overview
TechnoServe is seeking a Waste to Value (Circular Economy) Manager to lead circular economy initiatives in Nigeria, focusing on transforming food processing waste into valuable products and creating economic opportunities for young entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on women and persons with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of gender-inclusive W2V strategies.
- Attract private sector partners, investors, and technology providers.
- Ensure meaningful participation of youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
- Negotiate and secure waste supply agreements with processors.
- Develop and pilot approaches to reduce entry barriers for women and PWDs.
- Link W2V entrepreneurs with financial institutions and grants.
- Identify and secure purchase orders with industrial buyers.
- Develop systems for entrepreneurs to understand market demand, pricing, and quality specifications.
- Build community support for women's economic empowerment.
- Ensure women maintain control over their earnings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Agribusiness, Circular Economy, or related field (7+ years experience) OR Master’s Degree (5+ years experience).
- Proven track record in waste management, circular economy projects, or agricultural value chain development.
- Experience in negotiating commercial agreements and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Demonstrated commitment to economic empowerment for women and PWDs.
- Strong expertise in circular economy principles and waste-to-value business models.
- Exceptional ability to broker deals between small-scale entrepreneurs and large industrial processors/buyers.
- Ability to develop financially viable business plans and conduct ROI analyses.
- Fluent English; local languages (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo) are advantageous.
- Experience working in Nigeria's food processing sector, particularly with soybean, sesame, tomato, or ginger value chains is preferred.
- Prior work with donor-funded programs focusing on youth, women, and PWD inclusion is preferred.
- Knowledge of climate-smart technologies and regenerative business practices is preferred.
- Experience with market systems development approaches is preferred.
- Familiarity with Nigeria's regulatory environment is preferred.
- Track record of securing commercial offtake agreements is preferred.
Benefits
This position involves at least 50% travel time, including field visits across ten project implementation states. Supervisory responsibilities may include field officers, consultants, or other staff.
