Overview
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is seeking a Climate Investment Associate Principal to support strategic climate finance engagement across Africa. This role provides analytical, coordination, and operational support to the Director of the Africa Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engagement efforts for GCF programming and replenishment cycles, leveraging high-level platforms.
- Coordinate high-level engagement with the African Union, UNECA, and Regional Economic Communities.
- Advance Africa Department strategy and project pipeline development.
- Support the implementation of the Africa Department Programming Strategy.
- Conduct analysis on departmental performance, project impact metrics, and regional trends.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., climate change science, political science, economics, business management) or a Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a development organization, international financial institution, or government ministry with a focus on Africa.
- Familiarity with GCF funding processes or multilateral financing mechanisms is highly desirable.
- Experience with climate negotiations and UNFCCC processes is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Africa’s political, economic, and institutional context.
- Exceptional analytical, drafting, and diplomatic skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
