    Position Overview

    As GFC continues to grow its global team, the organization recognizes the need to strengthen its People & Culture (P&C) function.

    Title: Global People and Culture Senior Manager
    Location: Remote, open to candidates worldwide
    Employment Type: Full-time

    The newly created role of Senior Manager will serve as the operational backbone of GFC’s P&C team, overseeing core HR functions, systems, and processes across different regions and employment arrangements. This is a strategic position that ensures best practices underpin the organization’s staff experience, compliance, and equitable support for its global workforce.

    The Senior Manager will be instrumental in translating GFC’s People & Culture strategy into actionable programs and systems, supporting the organization’s ambitious goals around organizational culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, and staff wellbeing.

    The role involves managing relationships with PEOs/EORs (Professional Employer Organizations / Employer of Record providers), supporting staff and managers across multiple time zones, and maintaining compliance with local employment laws.


    Key Responsibilities

    1. People and Culture Operations & Systems Management

    The Senior Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for global P&C operations, coordinating across time zones and ensuring seamless, compliant HR processes. Responsibilities include:

    • Managing core HR processes such as contracts, documentation, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Leading the development and implementation of HRIS (Human Resources Information System) solutions, workflows, and templates that improve efficiency.

    • Overseeing relationships with PEOs/EORs, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and compliance issues.
    • Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date employee records, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
    • Advising on and developing P&C policies, procedures, and tools to support a consistent and equitable employee experience across regions.

    2. First-Line Staff and Manager Support

    The Senior Manager acts as the initial point of contact for staff and managers on routine HR matters, including policies, benefits, leave, and employment documentation. Key activities include:

    • Providing guidance on employee relations issues within the scope of the role.
    • Supporting managers with tools, templates, and process support for routine supervisory responsibilities.

    • Escalating complex matters to HR Advisors or senior leadership when necessary.
    • Ensuring clarity and transparency in employment conditions and benefits for staff across the organization.

    3. Implementation of People & Culture Initiatives

    This role involves project management and oversight of various People & Culture initiatives, such as:

    • Culture-building programs, staff engagement, wellbeing initiatives, and DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) efforts.
    • Supporting organizational development projects, including performance management and staff development systems.
    • Monitoring progress, timelines, and outcomes of P&C projects, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.

    4. Strengthening Global P&C Infrastructure

    The Senior Manager will lead efforts to continuously improve GFC’s P&C infrastructure, including:

    • Regular review and updates of policies, procedures, and guidance documents, with attention to country-specific considerations.
    • Supporting governance processes related to P&C policies, including legal reviews and Board engagement.

    • Assisting with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding staff as needed.
    • Promoting accessibility and clarity of HR processes across diverse teams and regions.
    • Identifying operational improvements and recommending system enhancements.

    Qualifications & Core Competencies

    Required Qualifications

    • Significant experience in global P&C operations, ideally within an international NGO or similarly complex, distributed organization.
    • Strong understanding of international employment laws, compliance risks, and HR best practices.
    • Proven experience managing relationships with PEO/EOR providers supporting diverse employment arrangements.

    • Expertise in HR systems management, documentation, workflows, and process improvement.
    • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to build trust and rapport across cultures and time zones.
    • High levels of integrity, tact, discretion, and problem-solving skills.

    • A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and staff wellbeing.
    • Self-reliant, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • HR-related qualifications and/or membership with a recognized HR professional body.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working as an HR generalist in a global context.
    • Familiarity with HRIS tools, digital workflow systems, and change management.

    • Ability to communicate in multiple languages.
    • Additional certifications related to HR or organizational development.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary Range: USD $85,000 to $110,000, depending on experience and location.
