    Job Description

    SOLIDAR is seeking Fellows!

    SOLIDAR is a prominent European and global network of NGOs dedicated to promoting social justice, human rights, and sustainable development.

    As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen civil society and influence policy at European and international levels, we are offering two exciting traineeship opportunities in Brussels: Policy & Research Fellows and Project Fellows.

    Position Type: Full-Time, Paid Traineeships
    Monthly Stipend: €1,056 net + Travel Support + Meal Vouchers

    This paid traineeship provides a unique chance for emerging professionals and recent graduates to gain practical experience in EU policy, advocacy, research, and project management within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

    Position Overview

    • Positions Available: 2 Policy & Research Fellows, 2 Project Fellows

    • Duration: 9 months (April 2026 – December 2026)

    • Work Environment: Full-time, based at SOLIDAR’s headquarters in Brussels, with hybrid work arrangements
    • Remuneration: €1,056 net/month, plus additional support for travel and meals

    Policy & Research Fellows (2 Posts)

    Role Overview

    The Policy & Research Fellows will play a critical role in supporting SOLIDAR’s policy advocacy and research activities. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about social justice, human rights, and policy analysis.

    Fellows will have the opportunity to monitor EU policy developments, contribute to research projects, draft advocacy materials, and participate in strategic advocacy initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Monitoring EU Policy: Track developments in social rights, trade, education, just transition, and international cooperation. Draft summaries, statements, and analysis for internal and external audiences.
    • Research & Analysis: Contribute to research efforts, notably the Social Rights Monitor (SRM), which involves drafting national reports and uploading data onto interactive web platforms.
    • Policy Drafting: Prepare briefing papers, position statements, and advocacy documents aligned with EU policies.

    • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with SOLIDAR members and external stakeholders on advocacy initiatives, policy recommendations, and event organization.
    • Event Participation: Attend meetings, conferences, and EU institutional events, reporting back insights and updates to the team.
    • Support Project Deliverables: Assist in timely completion of project activities and narrative reports.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Academic background or work experience in political sciences, European affairs, social studies, law, economics, or related fields.
    • Knowledge of civil society organizations in Europe or internationally.
    • Familiarity with EU institutions, policies, and legislative processes.

    • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
    • Proven research, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and plan tasks effectively.
    • Experience or interest in activism, advocacy, or policy research is desirable.

    Conditions

    • The traineeship is based in Brussels, with a hybrid work schedule.
    • The position is a “convention d’immersion professionnelle” (CIP) under Belgian law.
    • Candidates must have the legal right to work in Belgium by the start date.
    • The trainee will receive €1,056 net/month, travel support, and meal vouchers.

    Project Fellows (2 Posts)

    Role Overview

    The Project Fellows will focus on supporting SOLIDAR’s project management, event organization, and communication initiatives. This position is suitable for individuals with a keen interest in project planning, coordination, and civil society engagement, aiming to strengthen advocacy efforts and policy outreach.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Event Support: Organize and assist in conferences, workshops, training sessions, and advocacy events.
    • Communication Assistance: Support the development of advocacy materials, press releases, and social media content.
    • Research & Policy Support: Draft briefing papers and policy documents related to EU social policies.

    • Project Management: Assist in planning, implementation, and reporting of various projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
    • Representation & Reporting: Attend meetings with EU institutions and stakeholder groups, providing feedback and insights to the team.
    • Administrative Tasks: Support logistical and administrative aspects of project activities.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Academic or professional experience in project management, communication, or advocacy.
    • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of EU policies related to social justice, education, and international cooperation.

    • Proficiency in English; additional EU languages are advantageous.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Experience with event organization and advocacy campaigns is desirable.
    • Knowledge of civil society organizations and EU institutional functioning is a plus.

    Conditions

    • Position based in Brussels with a hybrid working approach.
    • Registered under the Belgian CIP scheme.
    • Candidates must be eligible to work and reside in Belgium from the start date.
    • Monthly allowance of €1,056 net, plus travel and meal vouchers.
