The General Residential Fellowship Programme at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) is designed for scholars in the humanities and social sciences, attracting researchers from diverse backgrounds, institutions, and countries.
Early-career candidates:
Senior candidates (PhD held for at least ten years):
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree required for at least three years at the time of application. For the 2027–28 cycle, doctoral degrees must have been received no later than 1 June 2023. Institutional affiliation is not required.
Fellows typically receive a monthly stipend. SCAS generally provides and funds accommodation for fellows outside the Stockholm–Uppsala region. Local fellows unable to commute may also receive housing support when possible.
Applications are processed via the Varbi online system. Submit applications well ahead of the deadline to allow sufficient time for support and technical assistance. Supporting documentation includes a completed Varbi online application, CV, publications, references, and research proposal.
