Not another climate infrastructure grant this one specifically funds political leadership itself. The Resilient Futures Call is putting $700,000 behind the people and institutions who turn climate evidence into actual policy.
The Resilient Futures Call a co-funded initiative by the Better Politics Fund, the European Climate Foundation, Naia Trust, and the Vibe Fund has opened applications for a global grant programme supporting non-partisan initiatives at the intersection of democratic political leadership and climate resilience.
Most climate funding goes toward infrastructure, research, or awareness campaigns. This one deliberately does not — it exists specifically for initiatives where political leadership is the driver of change, not a side effect. That means the fund supports work across three specific areas:
Ideation Grants
Incubation Grants
The call is global, but each co-funder has identified priority countries where they especially want strong proposals:
Applicants outside these countries are still welcome and assessed on merit.
Due to legal and operational limitations, the fund cannot support individuals or organizations in a specific list of countries, including Afghanistan, China, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, Russia, Syria, the US, and several others listed in the full call — including Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine. The full excluded list is detailed on the official Resilient Futures page.
Fundable examples include a first-of-its-kind councilor training program in flood-prone Philippine cities, or a Kenyan organization piloting a leadership framework with women politicians on water governance.
Not fundable: physical infrastructure, standalone research or scorecards, party-affiliated programs, corporate ESG initiatives, or advocacy campaigns that don’t build political leadership capacity.
An online information session is available on 17 August 2026 (8:00 CET or 16:00 CET).
For non-partisan organizations and individuals genuinely working to strengthen political leadership around climate resilience — not just climate projects generally — the Resilient Futures Call offers real funding, a fast process, and a rare focus on the political systems that ultimately decide whether climate action happens at all.
Ideation Grants Application Deadline: Midnight CET, 4 September 2026
