Call for Applications: The Green Learn 2 Earn Youth Challenge

Overview

The Green Learn 2 Earn Youth Challenge is an initiative by the Environmental Learning Research Centre (ELRC) at Rhodes University, aimed at empowering young South Africans aged 15 to 35 to engage with environmental education creatively.

Eligibility

This competition specifically targets youth within South Africa, aged 15 to 35. Individuals who have previously completed the YOMA GreenLearn2Earn courses are encouraged to participate. Individuals employed by partner organizations involved in the YOMA GreenLearn2Earn Project, GreenLearn2Earn Course Ambassadors, or ELRC project team members are excluded.

How to Apply

Participants must register on the YOMA platform, select and complete a GreenLearn2Earn course (AgroEcology or River Monitors), create an Atlas Academy profile, complete the chosen micro-course, and then develop a creative submission (short video, song, story, poem, poster, or drawing) reflecting their learning. This creative work, along with the course completion certificate, must be emailed to greenlearn2earn@ru.ac.za by midnight, 15 March 2026. Participants must include their full name and completed course title in the submission email.
