    Job Description

    Overview

    COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale is seeking a Communication and Advocacy Officer to support the development and implementation of communication and advocacy initiatives, enhancing the organization's visibility and public recognition.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement Project Publications Policy, including content development and coordination of press releases, publications, and articles.
    • Develop and execute a project communication strategy aligned with corporate communications strategy.
    • Raise awareness of COOPI’s mandate through information dissemination and public events.
    • Prepare marketing and awareness materials such as briefing papers and press releases.
    • Organize publicity, advocacy, knowledge sharing events, and promotional activities.
    • Provide logistics support for events.
    • Maintain an information database and photo collection.
    • Organize and implement collaborative UN communication initiatives.
    • Liaise with media outlets and prepare press releases.
    • Develop promotional materials, including pamphlets and videos.
    • Prepare communication reports for the Project Management Team.
    • Support documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
    • Organize staff training on communication and advocacy.
    • Lead knowledge dissemination processes and produce knowledge products.
    • Build internal and external networks, including with government agencies, NGOs, think tanks, private sector actors, international development organizations, and UN agencies.
    • Map key competencies across relevant institutions.
    • Support workshops, seminars, and training activities.
    • Coordinate with government and non-government agencies to update project information.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Communication Strategy, Development Communication, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within a development organization.
    • Experience producing communication packages to promote organizational activities.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and graphic design tools.
    • Experience using web-based management systems.
    • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hausa.
    • Ability to identify relevant information for diverse advocacy audiences.
    • Research and maintain media and stakeholder contacts.
    • Research best practices and innovative approaches.
    • Document new strategies and methods.
    • Knowledge of organizational processes and policies.
    • Strong information technology skills.
    • Ability to disseminate materials on humanitarian and development activities.
    • Maintain networks and knowledge assets.
    • Deliver timely responses to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Prioritize work to meet deadlines.
    • Build and sustain professional relationships.
    • Demonstrate ethics and integrity, sound judgment, and corporate knowledge.
