The United Nations Development Programme is recruiting a Blue Resilience Intern to support its Nature Hub under the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS).

This internship contributes to global work on sustainable ocean governance and combating organized crime in fisheries.

The role is home-based, with the possibility of travel to support a major international event in Copenhagen, Denmark later in the year.

    Position Overview

    • Organization: United Nations Development Programme
    • Programme: Nature Hub – Bureau for Policy and Programme Support
    • Position: Blue Resilience Intern
    • Location: Home-based (with potential travel)
    • Duration: 5 months
    • Application Deadline: 9 March 2026

This project is supported by the Norwegian government through the Blue Justice Initiative.

    About the Blue Resilience Project

The Blue Resilience initiative helps countries strengthen governance systems to address crimes linked to fisheries and marine resources.

The project supports the implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration on Transnational Organized Crime in the Global Fishing Industry, which encourages governments to cooperate in preventing illegal activities in the fishing sector.

    • Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing
    • Organized crime linked to fishing operations
    • Maritime trafficking networks
    • Weak fisheries governance systems

A key part of the project is the Blue Justice Community, a secure digital platform used by government agencies to share vessel-tracking information and collaborate on investigations.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Supporting the Blue Justice User Gathering (50%)
