Overview
The International Science Council (ISC) is hiring a motivated and dynamic Junior Science Officer to support its strategic objectives of promoting science in decision-making worldwide. This full-time, permanent role is based in Paris, France.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate time-bound projects and programmes across their full lifecycle.
- Engage scientists from diverse disciplines and geographies in global policy processes.
- Liaise with ISC member organizations, partners, and UN agencies to facilitate project collaboration.
- Assist in organizing scientific events, meetings, and conferences.
- Provide expertise on scientific topics and methodologies.
- Ensure project budget management, communication, and dissemination of results.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in a natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant international experience.
- Proven ability to translate technical information for non-experts.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and oral.
- Strong analytical and/or programming skills.
- Effective networker and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Autonomous, proactive, and adaptable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
- Curiosity, openness, and a commitment to teamwork.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of multilateral systems and global policy processes.
- Interest in science policy, science advice, and science diplomacy.
- Experience working with diverse, distributed teams.
- Skills in project administration, reporting, and supporting scientific committees.
- Working knowledge of French and additional languages.
