Overview
Stockholm University is seeking a full-time Research Assistant for the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) to support research in applied microeconomics, focusing on labor economics and human capital formation. This temporary position offers valuable experience in empirical research processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Construction and Management: Building, cleaning, and linking large administrative and survey datasets; managing complex data structures.
- Programming and Data Processing: Using Stata, R, or Python; implementing reproducible data cleaning and analysis pipelines; documenting workflows.
- Econometric Analysis: Conducting econometric analysis, performing robustness checks, and supporting research design.
- Text-as-Data Applications: Applying text analysis techniques to datasets and processing unstructured text.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong programming skills in Stata, R, or Python.
- Experience working with data, including cleaning, merging, and transforming large datasets.
- Ability to debug code, work independently, and produce well-documented code.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large administrative datasets, particularly employer–employee matched datasets.
- Familiarity with text-as-data methods and natural language processing.
- Advanced training in econometrics (causal inference, panel data analysis).
- Ability to read technical documentation in Portuguese is an advantage.
