Overview
UNICEF is offering a full-time, five-month internship in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on strengthening child and youth participation in democratic and electoral processes through advocacy and engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strengthening child and youth participation in electoral advocacy
- Facilitating inclusive virtual consultations with children and young people
- Supporting the development of a Children’s Manifesto
- Enhancing engagement in democratic governance, communication, and advocacy
Requirements
- Enrolled in the final year of undergraduate or graduate studies, or graduated within the last two years
- Relevant disciplines: Political Science, Government and Management Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Policy and Public Administration, Children/Human Rights, International Relations, or related fields
- Strong academic performance, interest in governance, democracy, human rights, or child participation
- Proficiency in English; local language knowledge is advantageous
- Strong communication, research, and organizational skills
- Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding
- No immediate relatives working at UNICEF in a reporting line
Desirable Qualifications
- Country-level experience, especially in development, fragile settings, or humanitarian contexts
- Experience in youth engagement, advocacy, or digital communication
