The adidas Foundation has launched a global search for partner organisations to help design and deliver a new multi-year initiative aimed at supporting children and young people affected by crisis and displacement through sport and physical activity.
The new Recovery Through Sport programme will explore how safe, structured, and meaningful participation in sport can contribute to recovery, wellbeing, and resilience among young people living in challenging environments.
The foundation is inviting experienced organisations to submit expressions of interest to become strategic partners in developing and implementing the programme.
Recovery Through Sport is designed around the idea that sport and physical activity can play an important role in supporting young people recovering from the impacts of conflict, displacement, and humanitarian crises.
The programme will focus on settings where safe participation can be established and where sport-based approaches can complement broader recovery efforts.
Partner organisations will work with the adidas Foundation to shape a long-term approach that combines:
Rather than implementing a predefined project model, the initiative will be developed collaboratively with selected partners to identify effective approaches and strengthen what already works.
The opportunity is aimed at organisations with strong operational experience in humanitarian, recovery, and youth-focused programmes.
The foundation is seeking up to three partner organisations that demonstrate expertise in areas including:
Selected partners are expected to bring existing knowledge and experience while remaining open to testing, adapting, and developing new approaches.
The adidas Foundation emphasises that Recovery Through Sport is not a short-term grant opportunity.
The initiative is intended as a long-term partnership focused on developing sustainable programming through:
At this stage, applicants are not required to submit detailed budgets, logframes, or implementation plans.
Instead, the expression of interest process seeks organisations with the experience, systems, reach, and strategic capacity needed to co-create the programme.
The selected partners will participate in a programme supported by a significant funding commitment from the adidas Foundation.
Key details include:
The funding will support collaborative programme development and implementation in crisis-affected and recovery settings.
The adidas Foundation’s initiative reflects growing recognition of the role that sport can play beyond physical activity, including supporting social connection, emotional wellbeing, and community recovery.
Organisations with experience in humanitarian response, youth development, psychosocial support, and sport-based interventions are encouraged to consider applying.
The partnership opportunity is designed for organisations that can help create practical, evidence-informed solutions for young people affected by some of the world’s most challenging circumstances.
Interested organisations must submit their expression of interest before the closing date.
Application details:
Through Recovery Through Sport, the adidas Foundation aims to work with organisations that can help build innovative pathways for young people to recover, reconnect, and thrive through sport.
