Overview
UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer (P-2) for the Norwegian Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme in Accra, Ghana. This role focuses on strengthening child protection systems, humanitarian preparedness, and climate-resilient social services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Child Protection and Climate Change Study and contribute to national frameworks.
- Integrate climate-related indicators into the Social Welfare Information Management System (SWIMS).
- Operationalize the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Contingency Work Plan and mainstream child protection across sectors.
- Facilitate training on humanitarian principles, Core Commitments for Children, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, gender-based violence in emergencies, and Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.
- Contribute to humanitarian appeals, Situation Reports, and the development of a national trafficking data system.
- Support sectoral programme planning, results-based management, monitoring, and evidence-based advocacy.
Requirements
- University degree in International development, Human rights, Psychology, Sociology, International law, Social work, or a related social science field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in social development planning or child protection project management.
- Experience in a UN agency, or in developing or humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
