    The Loss and Damage Collaboration (L&DC) is seeking an experienced and strategic fundraising professional to serve as the Senior Fundraising Lead.

    Job Title: Senior Fundraising Lead
    Location: Remote (Global)
    Contract Type: Freelance, Full-time (4 days/week)
    Start Date: 2 March 2026
    Application Deadline: 6 February 2026
    Remuneration: £500 per day
    Experience Level: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

    This pivotal role is focused on driving resource mobilisation efforts, cultivating relationships with philanthropic and institutional funders, and securing vital financial resources to advance the organisation’s ambitious climate justice mission.

    The successful candidate will operate remotely and work closely with global teams to develop compelling proposals, organise stakeholder briefings, and expand the organisation’s funding pipeline.

    The Senior Fundraising Lead will play a crucial role in securing the necessary resources to support these efforts, ensuring that the organisation can expand its impact and influence.


    Role Overview

    Key Responsibilities

    The Senior Fundraising Lead will be responsible for developing and executing L&DC’s resource mobilisation strategy.

    This includes expanding the organisation’s network of prospective funders, nurturing long-term relationships with existing supporters, and crafting targeted proposals to secure funding.

    The role requires a proactive approach to outreach, proposal development, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with the global lead, communications team, and technical experts.

    Main duties include:

    • Developing, maintaining, and expanding a prospect list of potential funders, including foundations, philanthropic institutions, and public agencies.
    • Building and managing long-term relationships with current and prospective funders.
    • Conducting outreach to introduce L&DC’s mission and work to new funders and partners.

    • Leading the development of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications in collaboration with internal teams.
    • Working with the communications team to craft tailored messaging and materials for potential funders.

    • Organising briefings, technical sessions, and convenings to inform and engage funders on Loss and Damage issues.
    • Tracking fundraising pipelines, managing donor databases, and supporting reporting and accountability.

    Skills and Experience Required

    The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in securing funding for climate, social justice, or development organisations. They will demonstrate strong relationship management skills, excellent proposal writing capabilities, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

    Key qualifications include:

    • At least 10 years’ experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation, or development.
    • Demonstrated success in securing funding from foundations, philanthropic institutions, or government agencies.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
    • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging senior stakeholders.
    • Ability to work across cultures and regions, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence.

    • A deep commitment to climate justice, human rights, and social equity.
    • Experience working in climate, development, or social justice sectors is highly desirable.
