Overview

The Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS) is a university-funded scholarship for domestic and international students pursuing Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees at Monash University campuses in Australia. It provides financial assistance for living costs during graduate research study and is awarded competitively.

Scholarship Value and Duration

The scholarship offers an annual stipend of AUD $37,145 (2026 rate). The total value varies by research degree duration, and the number of scholarships awarded varies across rounds and disciplines. There are four application rounds per year.

Eligibility Requirements

Citizenship and Residency: Open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian humanitarian visa holders, and international students. Also available for Joint Research Awards where Monash is the home institution.

Academic and Institutional: Applicants must meet Monash University’s competitive scholarship selection requirements, satisfy English language proficiency standards, and apply for or be enrolled in an eligible graduate research degree.
