Overview
A leading Indigenous land rights network in Kenya is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Coordinator under a temporary contract. This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about community land registration, climate justice, and Indigenous peoples’ rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive work plans and budgets aligned with CLAN’s strategic objectives.
- Formulate implementation plans to ensure timely achievement of project milestones.
- Support fundraising efforts through proposal development and networking with financial partners.
- Enhance CLAN’s long-term financial sustainability.
- Prepare accurate and timely programmatic reports.
- Review and consolidate reports from co-implementers.
- Facilitate effective coordination of network activities.
- Ensure alignment of all programs with CLAN’s mission and objectives.
- Introduce innovative tools and systems to improve operational efficiency.
- Strengthen network capacity through new ideas and approaches.
- Perform tasks assigned by the CLAN! Steering Committee in support of organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning & Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Community Development, Sociology, Anthropology, Development Studies, or other relevant fields. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, strategic planning, resource mobilization, reporting, community development, and land/natural resource management.
- Strong understanding of community land registration, customary land rights, and Indigenous peoples’ rights and issues.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience managing community networks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to develop new tools and strategies.
