Early-career researchers are invited to review the First Order Draft of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). This initiative, led by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and partner networks, offers a unique opportunity to participate in the review of "The Physical Science Basis" of climate change.
Eligible applicants include advanced Master’s students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career academics or professionals, generally within 10 years of completing their PhD (extensions possible for career interruptions). Candidates should be familiar with recent scientific literature in climate science or related fields. Applications are open globally, with encouragement for individuals from underrepresented regions.
Selected participants will receive training (April–May 2026), be assigned specific sections to review (approximately 10–30 pages), and participate in coordination meetings. The official expert review period is 10 August to 2 October 2026. The total time commitment is approximately 30–50 hours.
Interested candidates can apply through the official application portal: Apply here.
