Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) has officially launched the Women’s Economic and Leadership Opportunities Fund 2026, a major funding initiative designed to remove barriers preventing women from achieving economic success and leadership positions across Canada.
Announced on July 8, 2026, by the Honourable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism), the initiative represents a $100 million federal investment aimed at supporting projects that create more opportunities for women and girls throughout Canada.
The funding will support organizations working to expand women’s leadership, increase participation in traditionally underrepresented sectors such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), skilled trades, and emerging industries, while preparing women to thrive in an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).
Application Deadline: September 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Pacific Time.
Canada recognizes that its economy performs best when everyone has equal opportunities to contribute. Although progress has been made over the years, women continue to face barriers that limit their participation in senior leadership positions and high-paying industries.
The Women’s Economic and Leadership Opportunities Fund 2026 has been established to help organizations develop innovative projects that address these challenges by:

The Minister emphasized that when more women lead businesses and participate in high-growth industries, Canada becomes stronger and more competitive. The investment aims to help organizations remove barriers, create opportunities, and empower more women to contribute their leadership, skills, and ideas.
The 2026 funding call builds upon the success of the 2023 Women’s Economic and Leadership Opportunities Fund, which supported approximately 170 projects focused on improving women’s economic security and prosperity across Canada.
The Women’s Economic and Leadership Opportunities Fund is part of the broader Women’s Program administered by Women and Gender Equality Canada.
