    Job Description

    The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) has announced a call for African feminist consultants to support its movement accompaniment and strengthening initiatives across the continent. This paid consultancy opportunity invites experienced feminist practitioners with expertise in collective care, digital security, crisis response, advocacy, and resilience building to apply before 20 March 2026.

    In line with its commitment to fostering flourishing feminist movements, AWDF has identified key strategic pathways for accompaniment and is inviting experienced practitioners to apply for one or more specialized assignments. Each consultancy requires distinct thematic expertise, facilitation approaches, and varying levels of engagement.

    Available Consultancy Assignments

    1. Collective Care as Political Strategy

    A two-day workshop designed to reposition care from an individual responsibility to a radical, systemic organizational practice. The training frames wellbeing as a frontline defense against backlash and repression.

    2. Digital Security and Collective Safety

    A four-day in-person training focused on strengthening practical digital security and data protection skills. Consultants will support organizations to develop:

    • Digital Security Protocols

    • Cyber Harassment Response Plans

    3. Crisis Response and Preparedness Training

    A four-day feminist crisis response and communication preparedness training tailored for organizations facing political, digital, or reputational threats.

    4. Research and Advocacy Teach-In

    A five-day in-person strategic retreat where feminist research meets political action. The program aims to equip partners to transform lived experiences and evidence into powerful narratives for collective futures.
    Priority expertise: Feminists operating in French and Portuguese-speaking contexts.

    5. Peer Learning Exchange Programme

    A six-month online journey featuring monthly facilitated peer learning circles covering:

    • Feminist governance

    • Resource mobilization

    • Digital security

    • Collective care

    • Advocacy

    6. Resilience Building Accompaniment

    A six-month online cyclical learning programme addressing:

    • Advocacy in hostile environments

    • Collective care practices

    • Development of Organizational Resilience Action Plans

    7. Integrated Resource Directory and Toolkit

    Development of a living, accessible ecosystem of tools and contextual knowledge aimed at strengthening operational resilience and strategic response capacity for French and Portuguese-speaking women’s rights movements.

    Who Should Apply?

    AWDF is seeking African feminist consultants with:

    • Proven thematic expertise relevant to the selected assignment(s)

    • Strong facilitation and movement-building experience

    • Contextual understanding of feminist organizing across Africa

    • Capacity to deliver both in-person and virtual programming
