Overview
Action Against Hunger is hiring a Driver (Pool) for their Nigeria operations. The role involves ensuring the safe operation of assigned vehicles, safeguarding passengers and goods, and maintaining accurate vehicle usage reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving and Safety: Drive safely in compliance with traffic regulations, ensure passenger safety, report accidents, follow organizational rules, undertake interstate and field movements, work according to roster including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays, ensure valid vehicle documents and safety equipment are onboard.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily and weekly vehicle checks, report major repairs, maintain vehicle cleanliness, track maintenance schedule, inspect and prepare vehicle before departure.
- Logistics and Documentation: Load goods, ensure delivery notes are completed and signed, obtain consignee signatures, confirm required equipment and security clearance before movements, record movements in the logbook, accurately complete fuel logbook, submit logbook and receipts monthly for reconciliation.
Requirements
- First School Leaving Certificate or equivalent
- Valid Nigerian driver’s license
- Proficiency in English (good reading and writing skills)
- Strong knowledge of traffic rules
- Flexible and adaptable
- Strong communication skills and integrity
- Knowledge of security procedures
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Previous experience is an advantage
