Overview
The Data Protection Advisor will lead the implementation of data protection frameworks, policies, and compliance systems across Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) missions in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and promote data protection best practices across MSF missions
- Provide technical advice on data protection policies and procedures
- Train staff and ensure organization-wide awareness on data privacy
- Develop and review data protection policies and operational guidelines
- Map and manage data flows and maintain processing activity registers
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Manage personal data breaches and mitigation processes
- Ensure compliance in contracts with partners and service providers
- Monitor local and international data protection regulations
- Manage and support data protection focal persons across missions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Computer Science, ICT, Statistics, or related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in data protection or privacy-related roles
- Certifications such as CIPP/E, CDPSE, or PIM are an advantage
- Experience in cybersecurity or digital security awareness is a plus
- Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- Fluent English (French is an advantage)
- Experience with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is an advantage
