    Core Responsibilities

    1. Strategic Editorial Leadership

    2. International Team Management

    You will oversee a diverse, globally distributed editorial team across three continents. A major component of the role involves:

    • Managing and mentoring editors in Africa and the Americas
    • Supporting their professional growth
    • Ensuring regional stories resonate globally

    3. UK Desk Oversight

    You will co-manage UK-based reporters alongside the Editor-in-Chief and later take full responsibility for managing a UK editor once appointed.

    4. Editorial Quality Control

    Acting as the final editorial checkpoint, you will:

    • Review and refine stories before publication
    • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance
    • Adapt stories to target audiences effectively

    5. Newsletter and Content Coherence

    You will oversee the organization’s flagship weekly newsletter, ensuring:

    • Strong editorial consistency
    • Balanced regional representation (UK, Africa, Americas)
    • Engaging and impactful storytelling

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    Success in this role will be measured through:

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    Essential Requirements

    • 5–7+ years of senior leadership experience in a global newsroom
    • Proven ability to manage senior editors and international teams
    • Strong line editing and structural editing expertise
    • Excellent editorial judgment, particularly for legally sensitive stories

    Preferred Experience

    • Background working in or with the Global South
    • Lived experience in regions such as Africa or Latin America
    • Experience handling cross-border investigations
    • Ability to transform complex investigative material into accessible narrative
