Director of Engineering, Leverage @Fleetio

Overview

Fleetio is looking for a Director to lead its Leverage Engineering Pod, a division dedicated to enhancing the delivery capacity of Product & Engineering. The role involves setting the strategy for internal customers, managing partnerships, and leading the Pod’s vision and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the strategy and outcomes for a portfolio spanning shared frameworks, developer tooling, and partner delivery.
• Drive the adoption of shared frameworks and services to increase efficiency across Product & Engineering.
• Stand up the Solutions Engineering Squad to enhance roadmap commitments and manage agency partnerships.
• Modernize the Product Development Lifecycle with a focus on AI-assisted and agentic development.
• Protect the Pod's charter to ensure it remains focused on multiplying organizational capacity.
• Hire, develop, and retain engineering leaders and contributors, managing performance and engagement.
• Collaborate with executives on vision and manage the budget across tooling and agency spend.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading engineering organizations as a Director or Senior Engineering Manager.
• Experience managing engineering during significant company growth, understanding necessary changes in processes and architecture.
• Track record of leading platform or developer-productivity teams with measurable impact.
• Experience with external partners: managing agencies and maintaining work quality and ownership.
• Fluency in AI development tools and experience integrating them into software processes.
• Strong skills in communication, both written and verbal, capable of presenting cases to various stakeholders.
• Must mention "coffee" in the application to demonstrate attention to detail.
