The successful candidate will work remotely with the organization’s Communications and Programmatic teams to craft compelling programmatic content, particularly focusing on climate change and health.
The role demands a strategic thinker with a passion for digital communications, social media engagement, and storytelling. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause—advancing sustainable healthcare practices and addressing the intersection of climate and health on a global scale.
Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an internationally recognized non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector into a leader for environmental health and justice.
Operating globally with regional offices in the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, HCWH influences health systems worldwide to adopt sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon practices. Its core mission focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of healthcare facilities and promoting health equity through climate and health initiatives.
HCWH is renowned for its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network, which comprises over 2,300 members across 87 countries, representing more than 70,000 hospitals and health centers.
This network acts as a vital platform for healthcare providers to implement environmentally sustainable practices, collaborate on climate initiatives, and advocate for healthier communities globally.
The core of this role involves working closely with the Global Climate team and other programmatic units to develop engaging narratives that highlight HCWH’s initiatives and impact. The consultant will leverage storytelling skills to ensure the timely creation of external materials, including press releases, reports, and impact stories that showcase the global reach of HCWH’s climate projects.
This entails coordinating with regional offices, international partners, and strategic allies to craft messages that resonate across diverse regions and audiences. The consultant will be instrumental in translating complex climate and health topics into accessible, compelling content that amplifies HCWH’s mission.
The consultant will be responsible for leading the development of social media content in both English and Spanish. This includes designing social media graphics, drafting posts, and scheduling content across HCWH’s global social media channels, as well as GGHH’s accounts, ensuring aligned messaging.
Monitoring social media performance, tracking KPIs, and preparing reports to evaluate engagement and reach are critical components of this responsibility. The consultant will identify opportunities to enhance social media strategies and foster increased engagement within HCWH’s online communities.
The consultant will assist in managing the organization’s digital platforms, including updating website content, creating new pages, and uploading resources. Tracking analytics for websites and Moodle (if applicable), analyzing key performance indicators, and recommending improvements will also be part of the role.
Supporting the development and deployment of email newsletters and campaigns will be a key aspect of this position. The consultant will help craft compelling messaging, design templates, and coordinate the dissemination of communications to reach targeted audiences effectively.
This role requires close collaboration with the Communications team, Programmatic units, regional offices, and international partners. The consultant will help coordinate various initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
Joining HCWH means becoming part of a global movement committed to creating a healthier planet and healthier communities. You will work alongside passionate professionals dedicated to impactful change, with opportunities to influence global health and climate policies.
This role offers the chance to develop your skills in digital communications, storytelling, and social media management while supporting meaningful initiatives at the intersection of climate and health. HCWH values diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where all voices are heard and respected.
