Overview
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking a Programme Officer, Landscape Governance to support its Drylands Resilience Programme (DRP) in Kenya. The role focuses on implementing the REPLAN Project, which aims to enhance community resilience through biodiversity conservation, livelihood improvement, and inclusive governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, budgeting, and oversight of the REPLAN project's governance component.
- Ensure timely and high-quality project delivery, supporting partners and consultants.
- Contribute to technical and annual reporting and participate in developing Kenya’s Land Systems portfolio.
- Represent IUCN in relevant national fora and policy discussions, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues and providing policy support.
- Communicate lessons learned and manage risks related to IUCN’s public positioning.
- Support fundraising, proposal development, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring program sustainability.
- Assist in developing and implementing M&E frameworks, leading governance reporting, and using monitoring data for adaptive management.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Landscape/Wildlife/Forest/Rangeland Ecology, Climate Change, Governance, or related fields.
- Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office and online tools).
Professional Experience:
- At least five years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in landscape-level conservation and inclusive governance.
- Experience engaging local stakeholders in participatory processes.
- Knowledge of biodiversity-livelihood-climate governance linkages.
- Leadership experience, including supervision of consultants.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong teamwork and multicultural communication skills.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Swahili is essential.
Benefits
This is a fixed-term position (up to 24 months) with a grade P1 level.
