    Job Description

    Organisation: Conserve Global
    Contract Duration: 12 months (with potential for renewal)
    Start Date: 1 May 2026
    Commitment: Part-time (2.5 days per week)

    Conserve Global is seeking a skilled and strategic Communications Manager to guide and strengthen its communications function during a pivotal phase of organisational growth. This part-time role offers flexibility across Africa and combines high-level strategic oversight with hands-on implementation.

    The successful candidate will ensure that authentic, ethical, and community-centred storytelling remains at the heart of all external communications, positioning the organisation effectively with donors, partners, and global audiences.

    Conserve Global is a growing conservation organisation committed to community-led initiatives that protect ecosystems while empowering local stakeholders. As the organisation expands its portfolio and partnerships, it requires a communications leader who can build scalable systems, steward brand integrity, and deliver compelling narratives that reflect both scientific rigour and lived realities in conservation contexts.

    Role Purpose

    The Communications Manager will steward the organisation’s brand, narrative, and tone, ensuring alignment across platforms and audiences. The role spans strategy development, storytelling, donor reporting, digital communications, media engagement, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

    This position is ideal for a professional who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution while maintaining high editorial standards and ethical storytelling practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership & Brand Stewardship

    • Lead and implement a cohesive communications strategy across platforms
    • Maintain brand voice, visual identity, and narrative consistency
    • Provide internal guidance to ensure brand awareness and alignment

    Content Development & Ethical Storytelling

    • Produce compelling, evidence-based conservation stories
    • Translate technical conservation outputs into accessible narratives for diverse audiences
    • Commission and manage multimedia content aligned with ethical storytelling standards
    • Oversee routine content production and posting managed by external consultants

    Reporting & Donor Communications

    • Oversee the production of Quarterly Progress Reports and the Annual Impact Review
    • Support donor communications and proposal development
    • Align reporting outputs with broader storytelling strategy

    Digital Hub & Social Media

    • Manage the organisation’s LinkedIn and Instagram presence
    • Maintain the website as a central communications hub
    • Develop integrated digital pathways to strengthen engagement and visibility

    Media & Thought Leadership

    • Identify selective visibility and thought leadership opportunities
    • Manage media relationships and prepare core materials such as press releases and boilerplates

    Coordination & External Relationships

    • Liaise closely with field teams to ensure accurate and timely content
    • Manage relationships with external creative partners and agencies
    • Maintain organised workflows, content calendars, and asset libraries

    Candidate Profile

    The ideal candidate will bring both conservation literacy and strong communications leadership experience.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
    • Postgraduate qualification in one of these disciplines is advantageous

    Experience Requirements:

    • 3–5 years of experience overseeing communications or content production at a managerial level (more than 5 years preferred)
    • Demonstrated experience in the environmental or conservation sector
    • Strong editorial judgement and storytelling ability
    • Experience managing brand systems and communications frameworks
    • Ability to combine strategic oversight with hands-on content development
    • High attention to detail and operational discipline

    Desirable Experience:

    • Working with donors and institutional audiences
    • Managing external creative partners and consultants

    The successful candidate will demonstrate clarity of thought, adaptability, and a deep commitment to ethical storytelling in conservation contexts.

    Remuneration

    The salary is competitive, market-related, and commensurate with experience. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity designed to support a professional who can deliver strategic impact within a reduced working schedule.
