    The Southeast Sustainability Directors Network (SSDN), a collaborative organization dedicated to advancing sustainability and resilience across the southeastern United States, is seeking a highly organized and systems-oriented Operations & Program Support Manager.

    Job Title: Operations & Program Support Manager
    Location: United States — Fully Remote (must reside within one of SSDN’s 10 Southeast states or Washington, D.C.)
    Contract Type: Full-Time
    Salary Range: $70,000 – $75,000 annually

    This role is a vital part of SSDN’s staff, responsible for ensuring the organization operates smoothly, efficiently, and effectively supports its mission-driven programs.

    The successful candidate will work remotely, supporting a dynamic team committed to helping local governments across the Southeast address climate change challenges, improve sustainability efforts, and build resilient communities.     Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Operations

    The core of this role involves managing and continuously improving SSDN’s internal systems and processes, ensuring the organization runs efficiently and effectively in a remote environment.

    • Systems Design & Improvement: Develop, implement, and refine internal processes, tools, and workflows that support remote work. This includes overseeing document management systems (Google Drive), ensuring data integrity, and streamlining administrative workflows.
    • Calendar & Meeting Coordination: Manage scheduling, logistics for virtual meetings, webinars, and events. Coordinate travel and internal communications as needed.

    • Compliance & Administrative Management: Ensure SSDN remains compliant with federal and state requirements, including tax filings, vendor registrations, and grant reporting. Keep track of deadlines, renewals, and organizational obligations.
    • Remote Office Support: Oversee procurement and management of remote work supplies and resources, supporting staff to stay connected and productive.

    Program Support

    The Manager supports SSDN’s programs, particularly the Environmental Finance Center, by handling a range of logistical and administrative tasks.

    • Meeting & Event Coordination: Organize and facilitate member meetings, workgroup calls, webinars, and conferences. Ensure smooth technical execution and engagement.
    • Data & Stakeholder Management: Maintain and support the organization’s CRM database (Salesforce), ensuring accurate data collection, reporting, and stakeholder engagement tracking.

    • Content & Resource Library Management: Develop and maintain virtual libraries to organize content, resources, and documentation for SSDN’s programs and initiatives.
    • Program Logistics: Assist with event planning, including SSDN’s Annual Meeting and other in-person or virtual gatherings.

    Communications & Technical Support

    • Internal & External Communications: Draft, review, and support the development of outreach materials, internal memos, and other organizational communications.
    • Platform Support & Troubleshooting: Support staff in the effective use of digital collaboration tools like Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Asana, and Salesforce. Troubleshoot technical issues to maintain productivity.
    • Content Development: Support outreach initiatives for SSDN’s multimedia Environmental Finance Center and other programs.

    Financial & Organizational Coordination

    • Budget Tracking: Assist in monitoring operational budgets, grant-funded project expenses, and vendor payments.
    • Invoicing & Financial Management: Support invoicing processes for grants and partnerships, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions.
    • Grant & Contract Support: Collaborate with program managers and finance staff to track grant deliverables and ensure compliance with funding requirements.

    Human Resources & Team Support

    • Onboarding & Offboarding: Facilitate staff onboarding processes, coordinate benefits, and support team integration.
    • Promote Inclusive Culture: Foster a remote work environment that emphasizes equity, inclusion, and staff well-being.

    Leadership & Board Support

    • Meeting Preparation: Assist with preparing materials for SSDN’s Board of Directors, leadership retreats, and strategic planning sessions.
    • Team Coordination: Support internal workflows, cross-team communication, and organizational calendar management.

    Skills, Knowledge, & Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong capacity for managing complex projects, designing effective systems, and fostering a collaborative team environment, all in a remote setting.

    Essential Skills & Abilities

    • Exceptional Organization: Strong project management skills with high attention to detail.
    • Systems Thinking: Experience designing, implementing, and refining operational and programmatic workflows.
    • Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate organizational needs and develop practical, solutions-focused responses.

    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of translating complex information for diverse audiences.
    • Technological Proficiency: Skilled in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana, Salesforce, and video conferencing platforms like Zoom.

    • Data Management: Familiarity with data tools such as Airtable, GIS, and experience supporting CRM systems.
    • Remote Work Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive independently, manage shifting priorities, and foster team cohesion virtually.
    • Relationship Building: Skilled in coordinating across teams, supporting staff, and fostering an inclusive organizational culture.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with nonprofit or government organizations.
    • Knowledge of sustainability or environmental programs.

    • Experience managing or supporting virtual conferences, events, or large-scale meetings.
    • Familiarity with grant management and reporting.
