    Job Overview

    The Protection Officer will work under the supervision of the State Coordinator to support the design, implementation and monitoring of protection activities. The role focuses on strengthening protection systems, preventing and responding to gender based violence and child protection concerns, and ensuring protection principles are integrated across all project activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role will implement protection activities in line with approved project plans and donor requirements.

    identify, document and respond to protection risks including GBV and child protection cases.

    support case management, referrals and follow up in line with protection protocols.

    will facilitate community sensitisation and awareness sessions on protection, GBV and child rights.

    ensure safe, confidential and ethical handling of protection related data.

    contribute to protection assessments, monitoring and reporting.

    prepare activity reports, success stories and lessons learned.

    support the integration of protection principles across other sector interventions.

    carry out other duties assigned to support effective project delivery.

    Requirements

    Education

    Applicants must hold a BSc or HND in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Law, Gender Studies, International Development or a related field.

    Experience

    have between 2 and 3 years of relevant professional experience in protection programming.

    experience in gender based violence and or child protection interventions.

    Experience working with NGOs, INGOs or humanitarian and development organisations is an added advantage.

    Skills and Competencies

    Applicants must demonstrate strong knowledge of protection principles, GBV and child protection standards.

    have strong interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills.

    must be able to work sensitively with vulnerable populations.

    Have strong analytical, documentation and reporting skills.

    Applicants must be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    demonstrate high integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
