    Job Description

    Overview

    The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is hiring a Humanitarian Affairs Associate (G7) based in Islamabad, Pakistan. This role supports humanitarian coordination and emergency response operations in Pakistan, focusing on areas severely affected by climate-related disasters. The position is for Pakistani nationals on a one-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Organize and facilitate coordination meetings with UN agencies, NGOs, donors, and government authorities.
    • Prepare agendas, minutes, and track action points for coordination meetings.
    • Support collaboration with national and provincial disaster management authorities.
    • Assist in the coordination of joint assessments and field missions.
    • Gather information on humanitarian needs, displacement, and response activities.
    • Monitor early warning indicators and analyze data to identify priority needs and gaps.
    • Assist with emergency preparedness, contingency planning, and response simulations.
    • Support donor communication, media briefings, and the production of humanitarian updates.

    Requirements

    Education:

    • Secondary school diploma with at least 7 years of relevant experience, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

    Relevant academic fields include international relations, development studies, political science, humanitarian affairs, disaster management, public administration, geography, environmental studies, or peace and conflict studies.

    Experience and Skills:

    • Experience with the UN, NGOs, government, or civil society organizations.
    • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
    • Experience preparing reports, briefs, and assessments.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Urdu.

    Experience with humanitarian planning processes is desirable.
