Overview

This opportunity offers a full-time remote position as a Fact-checker/Researcher at Himal Southasian, a leading publication in Southasia focused on politics, culture, and society.

Key Responsibilities

Fact-checking all editorial material across text and multimedia platforms
Verifying information during editing and pre-publication processes
Vetting sources for reliability, misinformation, and bias
Identifying contested or contradictory information for editorial review
Conducting background research for articles, newsletters, and podcasts
Supporting the production and editing of regular podcast content
Assisting editorial workflows with additional research and verification tasks
Undertaking long-term and investigative research assignments

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in fact-checking or research
Previous work with reputable journalism, academic, publishing, or policy organisations
Strong ability to evaluate the reliability and credibility of information sources
Understanding of misinformation, media bias, and source verification
Interest in Southasian politics, history, society, and culture
Excellent written communication and research skills
Ability to work independently within a remote team environment
