    Overview

    The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) at Chiang Mai University is hosting a collaborative workshop on Forced Displacement in Southeast Asia from April 27 to May 3, 2026. This event aims to strengthen academic engagement and practical understanding of displacement issues in the region by bringing together emerging scholars, researchers, and practitioners.

    Key Responsibilities

    Participants will engage in critical academic discussions, analyze regional case studies, develop methodological skills, and participate in an experiential field learning component.

    Requirements

    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • A one-page motivation letter addressing interest in the workshop and how participation will enhance academic or professional work.
    • A 300-word abstract of the proposed paper on forced displacement issues in Southeast Asia.
    • A writing sample (article, thesis chapter, research report, blog, op-ed, or conference paper).

    Benefits

    RCSD will cover meals and refreshments. Accommodation and travel support to Chiang Mai will be provided for participants living outside the city (minimum funding support). Participation in the workshop is free. Applicants from outside Southeast Asia must cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.
