The organisation advocates for a shift away from fossil fuels and extractive industries toward equitable, community-driven renewable energy solutions. Through partnerships with civil society, grassroots movements, and global allies, Recourse promotes a development model that prioritises people and the planet.

Operating as a fully remote team, Recourse collaborates across regions to influence policy and investment decisions at major international financial institutions.

Although the role is based in Africa—preferably Kenya—its scope is global, requiring engagement with stakeholders and processes across multiple regions.

    • Building and maintaining relationships with civil society organisations, networks, and coalitions across the Global North and South
    • Organising and supporting events such as workshops, panels, and stakeholder meetings
    • Assisting Southern partners in participating in key global advocacy platforms
    • Contributing to communications efforts, including blogs, campaigns, and acting as a spokesperson when required
    • Ensuring campaign strategies align with organisational priorities and long-term goals
    • Supporting reporting processes for funders and stakeholders
    • Assisting in identifying funding opportunities and contributing to resource mobilisation efforts

    • Familiarity with international financial institutions and their environmental and social frameworks
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a remote, multicultural team
    • Demonstrated commitment to social and environmental justice, including sensitivity to gender and LGBTQ+ issues
    • Experience working with grassroots organisations and connecting local challenges to global policy advocacy
    • Willingness to contribute to administrative and logistical tasks where needed
