Recourse, an independent non-profit organisation focused on transforming global public finance and holding international financial institutions accountable, is currently recruiting for an Advisor position.
This is a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about energy justice, advocacy, and sustainable development to contribute to global change while working remotely from Africa.
Recourse works to reshape how public finance supports energy systems worldwide. The organisation advocates for a shift away from fossil fuels and extractive industries toward equitable, community-driven renewable energy solutions. Through partnerships with civil society, grassroots movements, and global allies, Recourse promotes a development model that prioritises people and the planet.
Operating as a fully remote team, Recourse collaborates across regions to influence policy and investment decisions at major international financial institutions.
The Advisor will play a key role in advancing Recourse’s Just Transition agenda, contributing to research, advocacy, and campaigns targeting international financial institutions (IFIs). Although the role is based in Africa—preferably Kenya—its scope is global, requiring engagement with stakeholders and processes across multiple regions.
The successful candidate will bring strong regional expertise, particularly in Global South energy systems and development finance, while contributing to broader global advocacy strategies aligned with Recourse’s 2025–2030 goals.

This is a full-time, one-year contract, with the possibility of extension. The role is fully remote, with occasional in-person meetings, most likely in Nairobi, Kenya. Candidates based in Kenya are preferred, though applicants from across Africa may be considered.
Recourse provides support for home office setup and remote working costs. The role also includes limited travel for conferences, partner engagement, and advocacy events.
The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from €36,936 to €39,876, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to compensation, the role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic, mission-driven organisation with global impact.
