Boxer Superstores has officially opened applications for its 2026 SETA-Funded Graduate Programme, offering young South African graduates an opportunity to gain valuable industry experience within one of the country’s fastest-growing retail chains.
The graduate programme will be based at the company’s head office in Westville, Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, with successful applicants expected to commence the programme on 1 August 2026. Applications for the opportunity will close on 30 June 2026.
According to Boxer Superstores, the initiative aims to support graduate development while equipping young professionals with practical business experience in the retail sector.
The 12-month programme is offered in partnership with the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&R SETA), a body focused on skills development and workforce readiness within South Africa’s retail and wholesale industries.
Boxer Superstores said the programme has been designed to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and workplace experience by exposing graduates to real business operations, professional mentorship, and structured development opportunities.

The retailer believes graduate development programmes play an important role in preparing young professionals for leadership opportunities within South Africa’s competitive retail industry.
The company added that graduates joining the programme will gain first-hand exposure to the operational demands of a large retail business while developing practical skills valued across the broader corporate sector.
Industry experts say graduate programmes within South Africa’s retail sector are becoming increasingly important as companies seek to strengthen leadership pipelines and adapt to rapidly changing consumer trends and digital transformation.
Retailers are facing growing pressure to modernise operations, improve customer experiences, and adopt technology-driven business strategies. As a result, many organisations are investing in graduate development initiatives to attract young professionals with fresh ideas, digital skills, and analytical capabilities.
Key trends influencing retail graduate recruitment include:
Analysts believe programmes such as Boxer’s SETA-funded initiative provide graduates with critical workplace exposure at a time when youth unemployment remains a major challenge in South Africa. Structured workplace learning opportunities are increasingly viewed as essential pathways for graduates seeking to gain professional experience and improve long-term employability.
Experts also note that partnerships between retailers and SETA organisations are helping to strengthen skills development across the country while supporting economic growth and workforce readiness within key industries.
Interested graduates are encouraged to apply before the official closing date of 30 June 2026.
