    Overview

    Eligibility

    • Must be a U.S.-based or U.S. territory-based 501(c)(3) organization or fiscally sponsored project
    • Maintain an annual operating budget generally under 2 million USD
    • Demonstrate grassroots accountability to communities affected by criminalization, policing, and surveillance
    • Show experience in community safety, protest defense, or anti-criminalization strategies
    • Center impacted communities in leadership and decision-making processes

    Priority consideration is given to organizations operating in underfunded Southern, rural, and high-risk geographic areas.

    Benefits

    • 12-month general operating grants
    • Standard grants ranging from 50,000 USD to 100,000 USD
    • Strategic collaborative grants of up to 200,000 USD for larger coalition efforts
    • Most awards expected to fall between 50,000 USD and 75,000 USD
    • Grant requests generally capped at 30 percent of an organization’s annual budget

    How to Apply

    Applicants must complete an eligibility screening before submitting a Letter of Interest. Selected applicants will then be invited to submit a full proposal.
