Applications are now open for the prestigious Taiwan Fellowship 2027, a fully funded international research opportunity supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The fellowship invites scholars, researchers, doctoral students, and academic professionals from around the world to undertake advanced research at universities and academic institutions in Taiwan.
The Taiwan Fellowship was established to encourage global academic exchange and strengthen international research collaboration on topics related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, Sinology, diplomacy, and emerging geopolitical and security issues.
Selected fellows will receive monthly financial support, airfare assistance, insurance coverage, and the opportunity to conduct independent research in Taiwan for a duration of 3 months to 1 year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the Taiwan Fellowship program to support international scholars and experts interested in conducting research related to Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region. Since its establishment, the fellowship has become one of Taiwan’s most respected international academic exchange programs.
The fellowship supports research projects in areas such as Taiwan studies, Asia-Pacific affairs, Sinology, diplomacy, security studies, energy resilience, cross-strait relations, and global supply chain issues.
Recipients will conduct their research at Taiwanese universities, libraries, think tanks, and academic institutions while building valuable academic and professional networks.
The processing unit for the fellowship is the Center for Chinese Studies under the National Central Library of Taiwan.

The acceptance letter must be sent to the Taiwan Fellowship team before December 31, 2026.
Successful candidates will receive the official Grant Authorization Letter and become recognized Taiwan Fellowship recipients.
Recipients should apply for the appropriate FR visa using the Grant Authorization Letter.
Recipients can then travel to Taiwan and officially begin their fellowship research program.
